Winterton Rangers manager Scott Hellewell gives us an update on preparations ahead of the squads return to pre season training.
Since the end of the season we haven’t stopped. Everyday me, Grimesy and JT have been messaging about plans for next season, player recruitment and other bits and bobs. I have spoken to all of last seasons squad now along with the players we are looking to bring in. I’m going to have a well deserved week away with my family this week but I’m sure I’ll still be on the phone daily talking about football.
As it’s still early on and pre season hasn’t started it’s hard to say what players will return, every player has said they will return and be down on the 22nd for training but it’s silly season and extra £5s can turn players heads but I think we have a loyal squad and they will return. Noel Burdett has left the club he told me a few weeks ago he’s going to Lincoln United. He’s a loss as once fully fit he would have been a handful in this league but we wish him all the best and thank him for his efforts last season.
We have been actively looking to improve the squad and we have a few agreements in place with players but we won’t be announcing them until we can actually sign players on, we also have a few other lads coming down who have got in touch with us so there should be good numbers for our first session back.
I’m really looking forward to getting back at it as it seems ages since the end of the season, pre season training will be about getting our fitness levels up and to hopefully put in some good performances to set us in good stead for the first game of the season.
