Latest NewsManagers Review | Hellewell reflects on well earned win at Skegness

August 14, 2019

Winterton Rangers manager, Scott Hellewell, gives us his thoughts on the latest 1-0 away win at Skegness.

“Reflecting on the performance last night against Skegness, myself and Grimesy are absolutely over the moon with the lads. Everyone of them was top drawer and the shift they all put in was unbelievable against a very, very good Skegness team.

There isn’t going to be many teams what go there and take points off them, I’m sure of that, so for us to leave there with all 3 was very pleasing.

The game itself was a tight affair with both teams having chances but you would probably say a draw would have been a fair result however the last 15 minutes I thought we were exceptional. We got the ball down and played to our strengths and that’s how we got the goal, nice play between young Matty and Robbie who put a great ball into the box for Elliot to bundle it home.

It’s always nice scoring so late on in the game as we had that against us a few times last season with Selby and Emley doing it to us so it was nice for it to happen our way for a change.

The subs this season have made real impacts when they have come on which shows it’s not just an 11 man game, we need the full squad if we want to match our aims.”
