Saturday 10th November 2018: 15:00 Kick Off at The TJs Travel Arena, Castleford
After the jubilation of last weekend’s excellent last minute cup tie win against Dunston UTS, Winterton return to league action this Saturday. Rangers fans will be making the trip down the M62 to Glasshoughton’s ground which sits in the shadow of the Xscape snozone (yes, that is spelt correctly!).
Last year’s fixture at this ground was a turgid nil-nil affair, mainly due to the pre-match decision to try and improve the playing surface by dragging heavy chains across it. Unfortunately, the tractor that was dragging the chains made more of an impression on the surface, and the pitch was heavy rutted with tyre marks. The ninety minute game of head tennis that followed was more fun for the centre-halves than the crowd.
Recent results for our league rivals have gone in Ranger’s favour. This has left Winterton sitting on top of the league 2 points clear, and for the first time would still be top, even if the surrounding clubs win their games in hand. After 2 weeks of cup action, it will be a keenly anticipated return to league action, as Manager Rob Watson explains:
View from the Manager, Rob Watson:
“We are looking forward to the game but expect a tough one away from home at Glasshoughton. We’ll be looking to get back to winning ways in the league after our cup success last week.”
